Fortune Dragon, Johor

The Fortune Dragon or Prosperity Dragon is a statue of a dragon in the town of Yong PengJohor. At a length of 106.9 meters, it is claimed to be the world's longest dragon tunnel in the world. The statue is located within the Green Garden of the Che Ann Khor Yong Peng Association in Taman Kota Impian.

The statue sits on a 4-acre of land which was purchased in 2012 by the Che Ann Khor Yong Peng De Jiao Hui. A De Jiao Hui is a Moral Association, a society dedicated to uplifting or improving ones morals and principles rather than outright religious worship.

In 2013, a ground-breaking ceremony was held to commemorate the start of the construction of the statue. The statue took 3 years to build, with an estimated construction cost of RM8 million.  It was launched on 12 November 2016 by the Ruler of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim accompanied by his Crown Prince Tunku Ismail.

The statue has ranges in height from 3.6 to 4.8 meters with 144 steps inside. You can actually enter the dragon through its mouth, pass through the length of its body and exit out the tail. Inside, the dragons “body” is air-conditioned and decorated with 42 Chinese paintings. 24 paintings depict the teachings of the Buddha and another 18 paintings depict the afterlife. Ancient Taoist folklore has it that people who enter a dragon’s mouth and exit through its tail will enjoy good fortune and be able to ward off evil.
